Car seat safety is one of the things I’m passionate about when it comes to my children.  I think it’s one of the easiest ways as a parent you can make sure your kids are kept safe.  So naturally when I heard about the first ever rear facing car seat that goes from birth to 2 years I was SO excited.  I was lucky enough to be invited to a party to launch the new SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40 from Graco where myself and some fellow bloggers got to check out the brand new car seat and take one home to use with our own kids.

First of all I was so glad to actually be able to make it to the party since I was already overdue and still on bed rest.  I used my few “up hours” and my awesome chauffeur (aka mom) to head over to Stacie from 7 on a Shoestring‘s house to mingle with other new and expecting mom bloggers and learn about the new car seat.  I think quite a few were slightly disappointed that I wasn’t toting a brand new baby with me though.  We all thought for sure I would be at that point!  When we got there Stacie had arranged a great buffet of food catered from Zoe’s Kitchen.  There was delicious combination of American and Mediterranean food to choose from.

Once everyone was settled in Stacie gave us a little overview of the car seat and its key points.  I think what I love most is that Graco has made it really easy to make sure babies are kept safe and rear facing as long as possible without having to purchase multiple car seats.  Did you know that The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends that all children be kept rear-facing until they are 2 years old?  It’s true.  Toddlers are more than five times safer riding rear facing than forward facing in a car seat.  To me, that makes keeping them rear facing as long as possible a no-brainer.  Some of the key features of the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40 are:

  • car seat is made to fit infants from 4 pounds to toddlers weighing up to 40 pounds
  • base has 8 positions to provide the most leg room of any rear-facing car seat
  • easy adjust harness system – no rethreading, just adjust harness and headrest with one hand
  • features Click Connect for use with Graco strollers – works as a travel system
Jamie from Roubinek Reality brought her adorable daughter Brantley with her to the party so we were able to see a real baby try out the car seat.  She fit in it perfectly with all of the newborn inserts still in the seat.  You can see Brantley sitting in the Mena pattern car seat and if you look at the picture above you can see the other color choice, Moonstruck.

We finished up the night by playing a fun trivia game and then everyone got to take their own car seat home with them.  Overall it was a really nice evening!  Thanks to Stacie for opening her home to us and Graco for providing us with such an innovative new car seat and valuable information to share with you.

The Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40 – the first and only newborn to two-year infant car seat that actually grows with your baby from four pounds all the way up to 40 pounds. The car seat is designed for a parent on the go. The infant car seat can be easily removed from the base and used as a carrier when the infant is small, providing portability and convenience so you can easily move your infant in and out of the car without disturbing them.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recently made the recommendation to keep all children in rear-facing car seats until the age of 2. Graco set out to make this product so parents can keep infants rear facing longer while still keeping them comfortable.
