Beyond the amazing food, there is a ton for families to do!  As you can see, we had so much fun last year.  Just a little tip, one parent to another, bring a change of clothes for your kids or layer their swimsuits under their outfit.  There’s a great splash pad fountain on the premises!  (We drove home with kids wearing random blankets we had in our car, LOL.)  There are also a bunch of carnival games and a midway, with something for the littles on up.

On Friday night, this year’s event features a Texas Country night with headlining acts like Reckless Kelly and Turnpike Troubadours. Saturday will cap off a full day of musical entertainment with favorites Sister Hazel and Blue October. There will also be celebrity chef demonstrations, award-winning children’s entertainment, and more!  For full event details visit AddisonTexas.net.

Now, I have a super fast FLASH giveaway for you!  Who wants to win 4 tickets to Taste Addison ($60 value), along with 4 Combos for Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers ($30 value)?

Sid Talking Plush

Calling all Sid the Science Kid fans!  There’s big news for your little science enthusiasts, Sid the Science Kid will be starring in his own movie!  The movie will be premiering on PBS Kids on Monday, March 25th.  “Sid the Science Kid: The Movie” will also be out on DVD and on iTunes on April 2nd.

Sid the Science Kid: The Movie

Sid the Science Kid: The Movie follows Sid and his friend Gabriela through their adventure in The Super Ultimate Science Museum. After winning a science contest in the “Junior Investigator” category for creating an awesome science experiment, Sid and Gabriela are awarded a special inside look at the new museum before it opens to the public.  Once there, they meet quirky scientist Dr. Bonabodon, voiced by guest-star ChristopherLloyd (Back to the Future), who has designed robot tour guides of the future, including Bobbybot, his greatest creation. Sid and Gabriela also meet Yangyang and Niuniu, from China, the winners of the “Future Scientist” category. The four young scientists observe giant honey bees, investigate robots, and even encounter a Tyrannosaurus Rex! But when their robot guide short-circuits, Sid, Gabriela, Yangyang, and Niuniu must use teamwork to save the day.  Together they learn that you can be a scientist at any age and that thinking like a kid is sometimes the best way to solve a problem!

We got a preview copy of the movie and my kids are loving it so far!  They’ve put it on a few times already.  I was suprised at how long it was (over an hour), but the engaging plot kept their attention for the duration of the movie.  The movie is on par with the Sid the Science Kid TV show.  It still includes some of your favorite silly characters as well as some new friends and a new environment filled with adventures.  We were already planning on tuning in on Monday to watch Sid the Science Kid: The Movie, and after previewing it we’re making sure all of our friends get to see this fun new movie too!  If for some reason you miss it on March 25, there will be encore performances on March 29 and March 31.  Check your local listings for what time they will be on.

Are you excited about the movie?  Want to have even more Sid the Science Kid fun?

If you haven’t been to the Taste of Dallas before you’re missing out on some yummy goodness!  Thankfully the 26th annual Taste of Dallas is this weekend, July 13-15, and it’s going to be even better than ever.  If you are looking for something fun to do with the kids Friday (July 13th) is Family Fun Night.  Parents get in free with their children, and kids 12 and under get in free with their parents.  So that means if you bring your kids you all get in free tonight!  If you head over on Saturday or Sunday, or without kids, admission is just $8.

Brand new this year, the Kids Taste Town will also feature The Sweet Factory.  Your kids can go on a journey through a magical candy factory filled with bigger than life sweets!  This is in addition to the usual fun such as rides, a petting zoo, fun activities, cooking demos, and even chances to meet some of their favorite character friends.

Taste of Dallas Family Fun Night

The kids and I are headed over there tonight – I hope I’ll see you there!  It’s such a fun way to go try new foods together and get out and have a great time.  For more information go to TasteOfDallas.org.

Greenling Organic, Local, and Sustainable Groceries with Free Delivery

I’ve been counting down the days since I heard Greenling was coming to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  They are finally here and with an amazing deal to boot!  If you haven’t heard of Greenling yet, they are an Austin, TX based company that offers organic, local and sustainable groceries delivered right to your front door.  I never manage to make it to the Farmer’s Market on the weekend and I’m fed up with the produce that’s being offered in the grocery stores with is just part of the reason I’m so excited about Greenling.  The best part, in my opinion, is that not only do they deliver, but delivery is FREE.  Woohoo!  I’m SO over-the-moon-excited that I can get great food delivered right to my house and not have to go to the store at crazy hours and/or drag my children with me.  Anyway, they have a Groupon right now where you can get $50 worth of groceries for $25 with, of course, free delivery!

*This deal has ended, but you can still get 10% off your Greenling order if you use the code: TAMCHE200
